Lazy Day

I woke up quite late this morning. I set my alarm for 10, but I think I forgot to turn it on. I ended up waking up around 11:30. Since my morning started so late I didn't feel like taking a shower or even really getting dressed. I'm still in my pajamas with dirty hair. I feel gross. I just threw on a sweatshirt and some socks and shoes to go to Fred Meyer and the Bon to eat. Pathetic I know. But that's ok. :) I decided it's a weekend and I have no reason why not to just relax and be blah.

Find Serenity Now

I was reading the lyrics to "Mood Rings" today on a website and noticed three ads on the side supported by google. Two were for mood rings, but the first was for a pill that apparently will help balance your moods and emotions. I just had to laugh inside. How many women who are really seeking professional or medical help for their unstable emotions would look for an answer in the comical lyrics of "Mood Rings?"

Halloween Weekend

(I decided it was time to blog again so Amancay won't have to keep reading the same old entry over and over.)

I left Friday morning (Oct. 31) to go to Bremerton and visit Hans for the weekend. It was extremely freezing! (Although, it's been cold here in Newberg too.) We took Bernie's granddaughter out trick-or-treating. She was really adorable.

Yesterday (Saturday) his dad took me and Hans out to look at cars, since Hans needs to get one. We didn't have a whole lot of luck. For the rest of the day we just hung out and relaxed. We watched "The Matrix Reloaded" at night, but it was late and I was pretty tired so I fell asleep before it was over. Once the credits came on, I woke up and said, "Oh it's over?" so...I don't know what happened, but that's alright.

This morning we got up and saw that there was snow coming down with the rain. We went to church and I met some of his friends/acquaintances that he's met there. After getting back from church we had just a little bit of time to be together before I needed to leave. They drove me to Tacoma where I met my friend, Dana, who gave me a ride up there. She picked me up at the mall and we had a long drive back to Newberg.

I got back around 6 this evening. I briefly chatted with Crystal while she was at work in the Bon. She said I missed a lot this weekend. Apparently the power went out in Newberg on Friday and it snowed at some point over the weekend. That's ok, I saw a little snow this morning, and as fun as a power outage can be, I was extremely happy to get to be with Hans. :)

So that about covers the news with me for the last few days. (Oh, and I'm excited for Christmas...Just a random thought.)

Tomorrow!!

I get to see Hans again tomorrow!! It's been about 5 weeks! That's the longest we've gone without seeing each other.
I realized that I haven't blogged in awhile, so I decided I should do so. There's really not a lot to say though. Next week Crystal and I have a load of tests. yuck. We are going to stress together.
Our beautiful tree outside our window is turning red and the leaves are blowing around in the wind. Hm....well I'll leave it at that I guess. sorry, so boring.

Happy Feelings

Today Crystal and I walked to Fred Meyer. I decided to buy a bridal magazine while there. They're so fun to look through. :) Well then on the way out something caught mine and Crystal's attention out of the corner of our eyes. It was sparkly. And pretty. "Oooo, rings!" Crystal exclaimed, so we *had* to stop and check them out. The lady there came up and asked if we needed anything and we said we were just looking. She said she'd be happy to help us try anything on and that she really didn't have anything to do. So, I really couldn't let her just be bored! I was obligated to try a ring on to bring some entertainment to her job. So I did. Coincidentally, it was this really cute bridal pair. I was thinking, oh my gosh, is that *my* finger?! It was weird. But it *was* pretty, and she said it looked good on my hand.

Back in my room I've been flipping through the mag. Crystal and I did some homework and now we've been complaining about how loud our floor is during quiet hours. Geez, have some respect girls. It's getting late. Hence, the term "quiet" hours. Anyway, that about covers it.

Girly Fun

Steph and I downloaded this Maybelline makeover program onto our computers. You can upload pictures of yourself and then put all kinds of makeup on to see what looks good or not. Maybe if she agrees, I can get us to put up a few pics of the most memorable makeovers (Scariest, Brightest, Normal, etc.)

Happy Birthday!

Today is my grandpa's birthday! Happy birthday Grandpa :)

Anyway, I guess I should blog something since Steph seems to be keeping you all informed about our life. I woke up sick today. Good thing it was on Friday and not Monday.

Steph, Hans, and I have been having "Story Time with Crystal" every night. We have read the Grimms' Snow White (the original version), this story about a girl who had to fulfill all these impossible tasks for her evil stepmother (a kind of mixing of Rumplestiltskin and Cinderella), and last night we read a modern writer's fairy tale about a girl who committed suicide in the sea to follow the merman she fell in love with. Overall some pretty depressing stories with a lot of messed up people.

Steph and I are now trying to find out online if there is really any truth to the rumor of the Kennedy curse.... Maybe she will tell you about it if we find anything.

Screaming Profanities

Alright, it seems that everytime Crystal and I go walking through town we usually get some sort of honking, catcall, or yell. Why is this? What is up with the males of Newberg? Are they just desperate?! Well, today I decided it's worth blogging about.
Crystal, Amy, and I went on a walk first to Wells Fargo then to Newberg Public Library. On the way to the bank some vehicle passed by us from which a random guy yelled, "[something] ladies!" All three of us were equally confused and complaining about the frequent disturbances we receive from Newbergian guys. Amy ranted that there needs to be some sort of hand signal we can use that isn't quite as offending as giving the middle finger but expresses our pure irritation. If only we had known what was next.
We left Wells Fargo and on the way to the library *still in shock* some guy yelled a rather obscene statement at us (we assumed it was at us not knowing who else it could've been directed to, although we knew we were not deserving of his disrespectfulness.) It was quite a clear, "F**k you, B*tch*s!" Umm...no...that's ok. This statement I decided pushed the random catcalls too far. This was not ok. This offended me. All three of us could not figure out what provoked such a thing to be yelled out at us innocent sweet pedestrian girls. Seriously. We did not have some sign on us that read "Cash prize to him who can yell the most vulgar, derogatory, and belittling phrase at us!" No, we weren't even dressed in any sort of manner that would make me think it would cause some guy to think, wow! Now there's a sexy woman! Yeah, sweatshirt, jeans, and wind-blown hair really cries out desperate sex kitten to me. To all those Newbergian guys who can't seem to grasp a sense of chivalry, keep it in your pants!

Anyway, a little bit of humor for today:
Crystal was reading in her art history text book and found an excerpt which told of Dante asking Giotto why Giotto's children are so ugly and his paintings so beautiful. Giotto replied that he paints by the daylight and reproduces in the darkness of night.

Amy always makes us laugh...

Well last night Amy entertained us by getting stuck between mine and Crystal's beds. She was leaning down to pick something up and Crystal lifted her legs up, which caused her to fall down between them and get stuck in the narrow space. It was quite a hilarious moment. She really couldn't get up.
Today went mostly fine. I had a test tonight. Now that it's over I feel a lot better. :)

Bum-Busting

While reading health and fitness tips tonight online, I came across a "bum-busting" technique--"traveling lunges."
"Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and take a big step forward with your right leg, making sure your knee stops above your ankle and doesn't bend more than 90 degrees. Foot planted, shift your weight onto your right leg and bring your left foot beside the right."
Crystal and I tried this out all the way down our hallway and back. It was quite entertaining and fun. I couldn't help laughing the whole time because I knew we looked funny. The girls who saw us laughed too and gave us questioning looks. I gave them the explanation, "Butt-busting!" Crystal and I decided we will do this more often, possibly around the track. Amy encouragingly told us that as we "lunged" passed their room that she noticeably saw our butts decrease in size. ;)

Festival Con Dios

Today I will be off with a group of people from Penn to go to Festival Con Dios near Salem. We signed up as volunteers so we don't have to pay the ticket price of nearly $30. Instead, we get to go for free!! :) I hear that we will be cleaning up garbage afterwards. That's not all that bad. I'm not sure when we're leaving... It should be fun. I'll try and take pictures there.

Play That Funky Music White Boy...

The 70's Dance tonight was a smash! A little sweaty and a bit tiring, but full of fun! We girls dressed up and took some pics...who knows, I might even get them on our site.

Photoshoot

I have a test in economics tomorrow (or technically, today). I haven't really studied yet. I did however procrastinate by giving Crystal a makeover, styling her hair, picking out an outfit for her, and doing a photoshoot. It was so much fun! She looked so cute. I might post a pic of her on the site...if she'll allow me to.

First Test

Well, in the morning Crystal and I have a test in Environmental Science. We studied tonight with Melissa. It was an entertaining study session. We tried to study in a way that would be memorable. For instance, we must memorize all aspects about two biomes that exist in the world. We chose deserts and grasslands. Well, grasslands just happens to be where the lions lived in Lion King. So we associated that with the movie. Grasslands have 10-60 inches of rain each year. The animal life consists of lions, hyenas, termites, warthogs, etc. This is partially what originally caused us to associate our studying with the movie. It was a good way to remember. We just have to think Simba!! and then bad hyenas! and Pumba! and they eat the bugs like termites! Then...the hyenas taking over the grasslands are an example of succession. And when the lions return they take over it again, which is an example of secondary succession. You will also notice that when Simba fights Scar, there is a fire...Fires are also a characteristic of grasslands....soooo that was only one *very* small portion of the study guide that we had to go over. Seriously. The study guide had so many questions it wasn't even funny.
After studying Crystal and I went on a jog around Newberg (around 11 pm) to release stress and get some exercise in. OK...I will end this now.

Starting Week 4

These weeks tend to be going kind of fast. That's a good thing I think. Well, I was awakened this morning to music seeping through our wall from the room next door. I was quite annoyed because it was only a little after 7 and I wasn't going to get up until 8:30. *evil eyes* I restrained myself from going over there and telling them to turn it down. Eventually I fell back asleep. Other than that I've just gone to chapel today.

The weekend was nice and relaxing. Not super eventful, but relaxing. :) I'm looking forward to this Friday--70's Dance!! *Listens to "These Boots Were Made for Walking" by Nancy Sinatra* Dang, I wish I had some gogo boots.
